Park Gwangsoo
The world reproduced by Park Gwangsoo is a world of achromatic colors, and it seems to capture the flickering time between autumn and early winter. His 'Black Forest' and 'Broken' series embody the shadow of a bad omen and an uncertain event that sneaks up on the artist's mind. What the artist proposes is not an object as a static, concrete existence, but rather as a reproduction of a sign predicted before it arrives, or a trace left after it has passed. It's not about things, it's about what is surrounding the events. In contemporary art, the object of painting is extended to the painting itself, the artist himself, and the object itself. The result of a painting is a moment. The moments and processes in which paintings are created and constructed are important. The state of mind, some psychological or metaphysical function, becomes more important than the sight and the effect. The artist's landscape should be understood not as any other landscape, but as images that sprang up in the mind. The artist's paintings come to stand at the boundary where events and objects, real events and metaphysical thinking meet.
