Kim Sunyoung

Kim Sunyoung constantly questions her identity. She is constantly circulating fundamental questions and potential answers in herself. Through this, the relationship or circumstance of the artist's inner place and the exterior becomes increasingly clear. However, the pace is too slow and seems to just repeat the vague atmosphere. It is difficult to find clear forms and boundaries in the artist's work. The landscape image is not actually a landscape in the sense of art history, but one raised by the mind of the artist. The subject of formative contemplation is not the landscape, but the landscape as self-reflection and introspection. Landscapes that seem meaningless and trivial seldom make the subject of observation and are often neglected. Hence, it retains its original appearance. These are the things that are never incorporated into society. It contains one's true self and can expose it. Through this, the artist thinks about the ambiguous boundaries between the self and society. It seems to be saying that the most private landscape can, in fact, reveal the most political and social reality - our managed reality.
