The places and objects that artist Cho Kiseob deals with are not for the purpose of reproduction, but to capture his memories and impressions. The artist, who works in Jeju, grew up surrounded by nature since childhood. The sense of peacefulness and the nature, which constantly changes in appearance, naturally became the subject of his work. To express the warmth of nature which he embraced with his heart, as opposed to the nature seen with the eye, the artist started using less color and began incorporating silver power into his work. As if searching for a faded memory, the silver powder reveals its existence by faintly sparkling in the light without being visible. The artist creates shapes with silver powder, dries them, and grinds them down with a grinder. He repeats the process to give the work a sense of space and three-dimensionality. The silver powder, applied in multiple layers, reveals different shapes depending on the viewing angle or the type of light, creating a lenticular-like effect.
